JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the primary support, maintenance and system availability of the z/TPF mainframe platform which runs business critical Production, Test and Development application systems within this environment. Responsible for line management, task management, technical direction and overall Service Level accountabilities for the z/TPF mainframe infrastructure. The role participates in efforts researching, designing, documenting and implementing infrastructure components that are standards based, high performance, highly available and secure delivering the required business functionality. Accountable for the integrity of all databases within Marriott’s Reservation System (MARSHA). Primary responsibility for the addition and deletion of all property and location codes, Property Management System support for the MARSHA system and Security Administration of internal security tables. Other duties include resolving and recreating systems errors, supporting Application and Helpdesk teams and providing support for MARSHA test and development systems. CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certification

  • 5+ years overall experience in Information Technology

  • 3+ years experience of using and supporting the Reservations system and functionality

  • Prior experience in z/TPF technologies

  • Strong working knowledge of the MARSHA system and reservations ecosystem

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products – MS Word, Excel, Access and Outlook

  • Ability to create constructive relationships, influence, and communicate

  • Ability to lead complex, cross-functional problem-solving initiatives.

Preferred:

  • Graduate degree

  • Technical certifications

  • Technical leadership experience in a sourced environment

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products – MS Word, Excel, Access and Outlook

  • 5+ years’ overall experience in z/TPF technologies.

  • 5+ years performing all aspects of zTPF Database work

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Provide input, design, development and implementation strategies and initiatives for the database maintenance of a world class z/TPF System to maintain Marriott International’s competitive advantage.

  • Provide technical support for implementation of MARSHA (Marriott’s Reservation System) Database Mainframe Services

  • Provides technical leadership and mentoring for other members of the mainframe services support team.

  • Supports the technical architects in performing research, analysis and design of technical solutions to meet current and future user requirements.

  • Supports the capacity planning analysis and reporting on computing systems for procurement planning and performance monitoring.

  • Resolves and makes decisions on more complex, non-routine service requests.

  • Understand the business and customer needs to introduce solutions that grow the bottom line and/or speed time to market.

  • Provide documents with a focus on how infrastructure services will be leveraged in the solution architecture.

  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of infrastructure services products.

  • Work closely with the enterprise architect to support alignment of plans with what is being delivered.

  • Support governance based on best practices and ensure proper alignment to projects and major initiatives.

  • Lead analysis of the current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.

  • Lead analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the infrastructure architecture.

  • Support Solution and Domain Architecture by providing current environment status in terms of technology, software and infrastructure for projects in the delivery life cycle.

  • Utilize capability modeling to align systems strategy and planning with business strategy and goals.

  • Consult with project teams to identify when it is necessary to modify infrastructure services to accommodate project needs.

  • Consult with architecture teams to identify when it is necessary to modify the technical architecture to accommodate infrastructure needs.

  • Oversee the documentation of all architecture design and analysis work.

  • Define, design, implement and promote standard configuration and change management, processes and practices.

Technical Leadership

  • Trains and/or mentors other team members, and peers as appropriate

  • Provides input on department or project budgets, capital expenditures or other cost/resource estimates as requested

  • Identifies opportunities to enhance the service delivery processes

Delivering Technology

  • Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects

  • Supports existing systems and large projects in a minimum of one environment

  • Facilitates achievement of expected deliverables and obligations of Services Providers

  • Validates completeness of requirements prior to Service Provider solutioning

  • Creates, updates and maintains current state documentation of designs, processes and interfaces utilized by mainframe systems

  • Through the service provider, plans and coordinates complex implementation overseeing quality control of systems functional design, usability, functionality, and implementation

  • Advises support desk on change management as it relates to support and training of new systems and processes

  • Ensures proper coordination with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams

  • Provides consultation for routine and complex systems development

  • Ensures early warning to the business stakeholder executives regarding degraded or missed service levels

IT Governance

  • Follows all defined IT standards and processes (i.e. IT Governance, SM&G, Architecture, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed

  • Maintains a proper balance between business and operational risk

  • Follows the defined project management standards and processes

Service Provider Management

  • Validates that Service Providers develop and manage respective aspects of a project plan, including schedules, deliverables, and appropriate metrics.

  • Makes short term plans for the team to effectively utilize resources

  • Monitors Service Provider outcomes

  • Reviews estimates of work effort for client project provided by Service Providers for accuracy

  • Facilitates timely resolution of service delivery problems and minimizes the impact to clients

California Applicants Only : The salary range for this position is $83,550.00 to $178,603.00 annually.

Colorado Applicants Only : The salary range for this position is $83,550.00 to $162,366.00 annually.

Hawaii Applicants Only : The salary range for this position is $101,096.00 to $178,603.00 annually.

New York Applicants Only : The salary range for this position is $83,550.00 to $178,603.00 annually.

Washington Applicants Only : The salary range for this position is $83,550.00 to $178,603.00 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus. Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
