JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting Director – Hong Kong is the financial leader for the Hong Kong administrative office, leading a team of 8 people deliver legal entity accounting, reporting, treasury, and finance operation activities;

He/She will be accountable for the establishment, maintenance and execution of policies, processes, and controls to enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles, SEC rules and regulations, and Sarbanes/Oxley 404 rules on internal controls;

He/She is expected to have solid knowledge of the local statutory accounting, reporting, treasury and preferably tax regulations. Establish and execute internal processes and controls to meet the local statutory requirements;

As part of Greater China controlling leadership team, he/she will be closely working with and supporting the Greater China Controller and MI group controlling leadership team to devise and execute strategies, priorities and initiatives to deliver against current and future global and Continent finance and accounting priorities;

  • He/she with lead, develop and elevate a high-performing finance and accounting team that can drive operational excellence, process optimization thereby strengthening Marriott’s competitive advantage through excellence in finance and accounting services delivery. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience • Minimum 10 years’ experience in accounting and finance operation;• Baccalaureate degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required; • CPA certificate or similar equivalent is required. Solid knowledge of HKFRS and US GAAP;• Demonstrated knowledge base and experience in tax, treasury and other statutory regulation in HK;• Proven record of people leader – influential, demonstrates flexibility in approach and motivates others; • Knowledge of Peoplesoft is preferred. • Prefer candidate with experience in system implementation, process optimization• Fluency in Chinese and English language (speaking and written) required Attributes, Knowledge and Skills • Demonstrates exceptional organizational and prioritization skills; high performance levels under tight deadlines.• Good business process skills; ensuring compliance with existing processes and producing quality results.• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative work environment. CORE WORK ACTIVITIES • Leads the execution of finance and accounting responsibilities for the HK office, complete closing and reporting activities in accordance with Marriott Group Accounting Policies and local statutory accounting requirement. Deliver monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting that supports group consolidation and local statutory requirements;• Leads the design, execution and evolvement of policies, processes, systems, and controls that ensure the accuracy of external reporting, including but not limited to balance sheet reconciliation, P&L analytical review;• Leads the execution of finance operation activities of HK office, including Vendor and Payment, T&E, Billing and AR, Payroll Processing as well as Corporate Card management in accordance with Marriott Group and continent policies and SOPs;• Leads the execution and collaboration with HQ team on treasury activities for HK office;• Leads the execution and collaboration with Continent and HQ stakeholders to deliver controlling/finance projects and initiatives. Lead and drive end to end process optimization, standardization and simplification.• Leverages strong functional leadership and communication skills to collaborate with ither department heads and to lead the office accounting team.• Lead the coordination of annual external audit.• Communicates financial concepts in a clear and persuasive manner that is easy to understand and drives desired behaviors.• Lead, develop and elevate a high-performing finance and accounting team in HK office
