JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President, Business Transformation Office – APEC+GC is a key member of the Transformation Office and APEC+GC continent leadership team, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Business Transformation Office and a dotted line to APEC CSMO and GC VP of Revenue Strategy, Loyalty & Distribution. The position leads and coordinates Digital + Tech Transformation (DTT) efforts on behalf of both Greater China and APEC, and is primarily responsible for continent alignment, delivery and adoption of the Digital + Tech Transformation (DTT) program in continent. DTT is a multi-year effort to transform Marriott’s technology and business process ecosystem, enabling Marriott to deliver on our vision to become the world’s favorite travel company. The Transformation Office has been established to enable and accelerate DTT through unique approaches to strategic planning, program management, change management, experience and business process design, continent coordination, and deployment. This role will partner closely with the Continent Engagement Lead, as well as the broader Transformation Office leadership team to ensure APEC and GC continents are appropriately represented throughout all of the DTT efforts and is accountable for the successful delivery and adoption of the Change Management, Training, Deployment and Business Process efforts in APEC and GC. Success in this role requires strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, a proven ability to manage multiple work efforts at the same time, as well as a willingness to be tested on difficult and time-sensitive requests.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Continent Management + Oversight: Serve as the liaison between APEC and GC continents and DTT core team. Provide coordination across all continent discipline teams and DTT workstream tracks, executing workstream project milestones, raising risks and helping the APEC and GC continent teams prioritize the work.

  • Continent Engagement + Alignment: Involve and manage APEC and GC continent stakeholders to ensure that continent perspectives are heard and incorporated across the DTT workstreams. Coordinate in-continent forums and governance to surface critical risks and align on business decisions.

  • Continent Change Management, Deployment and Learning (CMDL): Lead APEC and GC continent change management, training, business process, and deployment on all phases of the DTT effort. Ensure consistent pull-through and adoption of DTT across all APEC and GC regions. Provide oversight and support to the continent to plan, monitor and adjust (as needed) continent activities to ensure effective execution from pre-launch through cutover and into sustainment. Partner closely with continent discipline teams, workstream leads, and the BTO PMO and CMDL organizations.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience Required

  • 4-year degree or equivalent from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Technology or related major or equivalent experience is required.

  • 12+ years of work experience in hotel, consulting or business analytics, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance.

  • Lodging/hospitality industry experience across multiple brands and disciplines

  • Experience managing large-scale initiatives, managing associated change and deploying initiatives at scale.

  • Experience evaluating business trends and successfully implementing new business programs and strategies that enhance multi-unit business performance.

  • Leading + Execution: Proven track record of planning and executing strategic projects and initiatives in operations; deep project management skillset

  • Change + Ambiguity: Able to lead the organization and team in working through unclear situations, challenges and opportunities through strong situation analysis and framing, rapid stakeholder assessments, critical decision making, solution brainstorming, and making data-driven way forward recommendations.

  • Continent Experience: Experience working in the APEC and GC Continent organization and knowledge of the various market, organizational structure and ways of working.

  • Problem Solving: Prior consulting experience focused on diagnosis and development of recommendations to solve complex business problems.

  • Advance Facilitation Skills: Lead the design, development, and delivery of complex stakeholder experiences, using design thinking, creativity, and expert communication skills, to deliver powerful, results-oriented meetings and workshops.

  • Market Research + Analysis: Able to review complex data sets, synthesize accordingly, and frame critical business questions that result in actions that drive operational, process, and performance improvements.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Continent Management + Oversight

  • Partner with APEC and GC Continent leaders and DTT BTO to plan and implement DTT initiatives with minimal oversight, to meet project objectives and goals on time and on budget

  • Provide coordination of week-to-week progress of continent activities – including (but not limited to) status reporting and aggregate timelines

  • Develop, track and deliver a Value Realization approach for continent in partnership with BTO, including managing and forecasting DTT budgets for the region

  • Surface APEC and GC Continent key insights for executive decision making across key forums

  • Support development of project plans across DTT workstreams and approaches that meet the needs of the Continent teams

  • Develop and manage Continent risks and issues, prioritizing resolution

  • Partner with the continent workstream leads and BTO CMDL team to shape change + implementation strategies for the impacted continent stakeholder groups

Continent Engagement + Alignment

  • Foster a positive climate to build effective teams that are committed to the MGP goals and initiatives

  • Represent APEC and GC point of view on all DTT initiatives with DTT workstreams and teams

  • Update Continent stakeholders on key initiative wins and opportunities, respond to concerns, and solicit feedback. Engage leadership to develop and execute action plans to address gaps.

  • Provide APEC and GC perspective in DTT continent forums and user advisory forums ensuring continent feedback is captured, information is shared, and work sessions are conducted effectively on key topics

Continent Change Management, Deployment + Adoption

  • Lead the development of the continent resource plan and business case to ensure APEC and GC have appropriate resources and workstreams have appropriate SMEs

  • Hire and oversee resources within the continent to support Change Management/Communications, Deployment planning and Command Center activities to deploy DTT across APEC and GC hotels

  • Facilitate deployment work sessions with continent teams for various phases of deployment beginning with the design of the deployment approach

  • Work with off-shore 3 rd party resources dedicated to providing implementation support for hotels in APEC and GC

  • Ensure consistent pull-through of change, training and deployment plans across the continent

  • Ensure timely and accurate measurement of continent readiness, adoption, and overall program

  • Advocate for continent deployment and adoption needs with the DTT workstream leads
